Alternative/Renewable energy has taken off in places like Western Europe.
Governments have introduced net metering residential tariffs for solar electricity. In underdeveloped areas it may be cheaper to leapfrog straight to renewable energy than to provide conventional energy. There are other places where a need has arisen because of unreliable traditional energy sources or unacceptable price hikes.
Unfortunately, just being a good citizen interested in saving the planet has not been much of a driver so far when it comes to people investing in renewable energy products.
Money, need and legislative compliance are the three drivers that people seem to plan around when thinking about renewable energy and the emotional feeling related to such issues about doing something good about global warming and saving the environment seems to take second place.

When Will The World Wake Up?

With oil prices soaring over US$114 a barrel, more people are looking for alternative ways to power everything they use in everyday life.
As mentioned in previous posts and on many other websites, news outlets and articles, people not only want but NEED other forms of energy. One of the best and the most cheapest is Solar Energy.
Solar Energy needs to be on the agenda for all governments around the world. They need to realise that this is one of the best solutions they can implement to the rising problems that they are constantly complaining about regarding the environment, greenhouse gases and global warming.
If governments were really concerned about these 3 issues then why aren’t they doing something to fix or minimise the effects that are plaguing the world due to said issues.
It’s one thing to complain about what people are doing to the environment but is a completely different thing when somebody takes action and initiative to try and fix the problem.
In your country, are there any initiatives taken by the government to reduce carbon emissions and fight the global warming problem?

Now, with lots of little solar electricity and other renewable energy generating plants all over the place, it creates a lot of employment opportunities and business opportunities for small business; people to install, to maintain, and to supply the various components. Now, this is seen as a great thing, especially for developing countries, where solar electricty is introduced. We can see lots of mini-industries and local employment cropping up, and improving the economy of many countries that are now at the bottom end of the scale as far as wealth is concerned.
So, by increasing the wealth of developing countries through lots of small industry, small local industry, it is also going to increase the wellbeing of people in developing countries. Improving their wealth and wellbeing is going to improve their health, because we know when people live in better, have more money, they can afford better food, better living conditions.
And so, solar energy could be one of the greatest things for mankind, one of the most charitable things to get involved in, today, could be solar energy; introducing it into developing countries, and to help them get started and do their own thing in those countries.

No Dug Up Roads

With Solar Electricity you don’t have to dig up roads for public connection to the Grid infrastructure. The skin of most building elements. Roof. Façade can be clad with Solar materials combined with traditional building materials to create
interesting design features, natural light and functionality.
I have noticed more solar powered parking meters and lights on roads and highways.
Has anyone noticed anything else that has recently utilised solar energy?
Energy Hikes - Side Effects

Ethanol and biodiesel have become much more popular juice for those big fuel guzzling sports and recreational SUV’s vehicles that many high energy consuming Americans like.
As a conseqence, in North America and Europe, for example, the market price of fuel crops like corn has about doubled in recent years.
With more farmers growing corn for profit, massive shortages of other basic food crops like wheat has emerged as one of the side effects.
Forget the usual culprit, the weather, this man made shortage of staple food grains has resulted in supply and demand cost spikes for those products and worldwide shortages and inflationary pressures in many countries.
This may be just a pre-curser to bigtime economic changes around the world and and a lot of the changes in the future way we live will be due to the rising cost of energy.
Countries not so dependent on oil as USA may not be affected as much, but they could still feel the ripple effect.
If you prepare yourself for the times ahead by becoming more self-sufficient by say, generating your own solar electricity and growing your own food for example you could be O.K. and avoid some of the worst side effects of coming energy price hikes and some of the angry consumer rage.

Here in beautiful Sydney, those rogue electricity companies now seem to be rewarding responisble people who use less electricity then before.
In the past big greedy users of electricity like multi-storey buildings and blocks of flats who left their lights illuminated all night, got a lower rate per KiloWatt hour if they used more electricity but now the reverse seems to be the case and some big wasteful power users are complaining that their electricity bills have gone up 100%. This has lead to a sudden panic demand for energy saving lights and appliances in big commercial buildings and enterprises.
I wonder if this trend is happening anywhere else?
I think the government finds it cheaper to hit consumers in the pockets where it hurts with higher electricty prices to reduce energy consumption rather than build more greenhouse gas emitting power stations.
Maybe this will lead to more solar energy around the place.

A lot of work is presently being done on developing new renewable energy technologies and bringing down the prices of existing solar technologies.
For example, amorphous Solar Panels are cheaper than Crystalline Solar Panels. Some experts predict that nanotechnology techniques could being Solar Electricity prices down to as low as $1.00 per watt.
Concentrating Solar Systems, Solar Thermal Electricity systems, Wind Power generation, wave and tidal systems and thermal towers generators all have potential and their own respective advantages and disadvantages.
