The Energy Saver Timer

It has been out there doing its job for over 15 years in government and private business sites, and the economical price and energy saving abilities of this timer switch are now known throughout Australia.

It is a one-shot timer that replaces the normal ON-OFF light switch, heater switch or air conditioning switch in new and existing buildings.

Twist the knob to turn it ON, and then it times OFF, it's as simple as tha; therefore electricity is used ONLY when needed.

Persons may use services as much as they want, but they have to reset the time switch each time, therefore it simply prevents energy waste by leaving services ON all day for no reason. Yes, to save even more energy, you can also turn it OFF half way through a timing cycle via the internal, slipping clutch (i.e. twist the knob anti-clockwise).

The Energy Saver employs the latest in leading edge technology, allowing lights and appliances to be used in five to 120 minute "shots".

To comply with OH&S regulations, it can even warn people before lights turn OFF at night.

It switches up to 6000 watts of electrical load direct (no need for extra electrical relays or electrical contactors). Therefore a timer installation is very cost-effective as it has a very short payback period through energy savings achieved.

It is a lights timer, a heater timer and an air conditioning timer, all in one.

Many thousands of Energy Savers have already been installed into numerous educational, commercial and industrial sites throughout Australia over the last 15 years and are collectively saving millions of dollars in electricity use annually.

Additionally, due to far shorter hours of operation of building services, future lighting maintenance, air conditioning maintenance and heating repair costs have been slashed for numerous facilities.

Average payback periods for the Energy Saver for the control of lights, heaters and air conditioners are proven to be around three years (i.e. a very high 33% per annum return on investment). This is right on the latest energy industry benchmark for all energy saving measures applicable to Australian businesses.

Some typical applications for the Energy Saver:

  1. Interior lighting or exterior lighting that is often left ON:
    • Lunch rooms, tea rooms, meeting rooms, staff rooms, & common rooms etc.
    • Store rooms, toilets, photocopying rooms, change rooms, computer rooms, switchboard/machinery/plant rooms and external areas etc.
    • Classrooms in High Schools & Primary schools, and Lecture & Seminar rooms in Colleges & Universities.
  2. Control for small – medium Heating and Air Conditioning for all rooms

Case study scenario: A large educational facility were complaining of a considerable energy waste problem due to hundreds of lights continually being left ON in numerous vacated lunch rooms, store rooms, utility rooms, plant rooms, lecture rooms, seminar rooms and classrooms etc.

They needed a proven energy saving device that would take the option of manual control for the lighting away from the room occupants. The device needed to be very economical and user-friendly and, most importantly, it also needed to have the option of switching lights OFF in gradual steps so as to give a lights-off-soon warning to teachers and students during night classes.

The countdown timer the Energy Saver was chosen as the solution to the problem. It was installed to replace the existing light switch plate in each room.

The timer is turned ON by hand to the desired room occupation time and it then automatically times-back to switch lights OFF after the set time has elapsed.

The Energy Saver saved a total of $20,000 each year thereafter for a one-off capital investment of only $60,000 in the installation, thereby giving the client a huge 33% per annum return on investment. Additionally, due to the much shorter hours of lighting use, the client reported a huge drop in the annual equipment maintenance bill for replacement of fluorescent lamps (tubes) and other light fitting parts.

This then gave the client’s financial plan a huge boost by increasing their return on investment to well over 50% per annum.
